Confidence up but saving at five-year high
With more people feeling optimistic about their job prospects and personal finances helped consumer confidence increase for the third consecutive quarter, although confidence levels still remain well below pre-recession highs.
Tradesmen getting busier too!
Almost half of tradesmen reported that they were busier than expected over the past few weeks, according to a survey carried out by Screwfix. 48% of respondents said that homeowners seemed more willing to spend as we approach the traditional home improvement season and are "frequently calling someone in to assist on bigger projects".
House prices up 0.1% in January
Hometrack figures show slight monthly increase but prices are down on this time last year. The latest figures released by housing information firm Hometrack indicate that house prices rose by 0.1% in January on the previous month.

Membership Recruitment Agent
As part of its continuing membership campaign, The Tile Association is looking for recruitment agents to target quality businesses in the wall and floor tile industry in Scotland, Wales, South East and South West England with a view to encouraging their membership application. The ideal candidate would be expected to plan and carry out sales visits initially within a defined area. The position will be a temporary six-month contract, which can be extended by agreement.
