David Wilson’s career in tiling stretches back to 1987 when, as a recent graduate of the Royal Society of Chemistry, he was hired as an R&D Chemist at Building Adhesives Limited.
He worked in R&D for 6 years, working on product developments, and assisting in the Quality Assurance laboratory when required, and also having involvement in Works Chemistry. During this time he also undertook customer product training.
Then he moved over to a more external customer facing role as a BAL Technical Advisor. This involved taking customer technical phone enquiries, writing technical correspondence and M40 Tiling Specifications, as well as technical articles for publication via industry magazines.
Being a member of the TTA Technical Committee provided an opportunity to become involved in development work for British Standards for the Design and Installation of Ceramic Wall and Floor Tiling, Mosaics and Natural Stone tiles as a member of the BSI B/539 Technical Committee from 2009.
Leading on from this David joined the European technical committee TC67 WG3 Products for the Installation of Ceramic tiles as one of the UK representatives.
He has worked for BAL and ARDEX for just over 35 years in total.
