EUROSTONE & TILES UP FOR SALE, AS OWNER JOHN HUSSEY CALLS IT A DAY – AT 87!

The UK’s ‘most senior’ tile business owner (unless anyone knows different?) is putting his Kettering-based tile retail business up for sale.

John Hussey started Eurostone & Tiles back in 1987, and he and his wife have built up a successful business over 35 years, selling a wide range of tiles, trims and accessories to a mainly consumer market, but also local jobbing builders.

John had previously been a lecturer in higher education and maintained an involvement in training even after he started the retail business. His interest in the wider industry also led him to be a founder member of TTA and he has maintained his company’s membership ever since then.

Now however he is looking for buyers for the business, on the basis that all good things must come to an end!

The sale includes freehold premises of nearly 7,000 square feet, which are in good condition and in a great location near to a Tesco and a popular retail park. There is also plenty of stock and equipment including two forklifts. The business is well-established with, John estimates, about 5,000 returning customers and has a good reputation locally, partly because the company has a history of charitable activities in the community.

The sale price is £420,000.

“Because of the amount of stock that we have, I think this is an opportunity which would appeal most to somebody already operating in tile retail or distribution,” says John. “It’s a profitable business with a loyal retail customer base in the popular and growing town of Kettering.”

Interested parties should either phone John on 01604 281539 or email jrh85@outlook.com. The company has a website at www.eurostonetiles.co.uk and a Facebook page.
