INSTARMAC SET OUT AMBITIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL GOALS IN LATEST ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY REPORT

With COP26 recently dominating our news feeds, climate change and environmental policies are at the forefront of most people’s minds.

During the UN Climate Change Conference, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, summed up the current crisis by saying, “We must listen – and we must act – and we must choose wisely. On behalf of this and future generations, I urge you: Choose ambition. Choose solidarity. Choose to safeguard our future and save humanity. We face a stark choice: Either we stop it – or is stops us. It’s time to say: enough”.

Instarmac have being saying “enough” for many years and following the success of their 2019/2020 report, they are delighted to present the second edition of their Environmental and Social Responsibility Report.

Instarmac are passionate about not just creating quality products, but doing so conscientiously and in a way that limits environmental impacts.

As a manufacturer, Instarmac understands how important it is to be as sustainable and environmentally responsible as possible and to constantly challenge manufacturing processes and operations to make further improvements.

Instarmac are driven by commercial and financial success, but they also prioritise the need to do it with integrity and purpose. In 1987, the UN defined sustainability as “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” Instarmac’s Environmental and Social Responsibility Report highlights how they currently operate and the positive contributions they are making to meet the needs of the present, whilst limiting the impact on future generations.

Instarmac also identify the need to work sustainably with regards to their people and local community.

In 2019, Instarmac set out a number of environmental goals and they are pleased to report that many of these goals have been reached ahead of schedule. Some of these goals include a 15.6% reduction in C0₂ emissions and a 16% improvement on their carbon footprint. All 5 litre bottles are now made from 100% recycled content and throughout 2020, Instarmac drivers returned and recycled approximately 15,000 pallets – saving around 1,900 trees.

Instarmac are keen to challenge themselves further and have set out a number of ambitious goals for 2022/2023. They aim to increase recycled content in their packaging and product content, reduce their carbon footprint by a further 5% and introduce Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles to their fleet. Sustainability and environmental issues are very important to Instarmac and are always considered when making business decisions. Just some of the initiatives successfully implemented at Instarmac include using AdBlue for their fleet, increasing the number of hybrid vehicles, investing in Grey Water and Intelligent Lighting Systems, installing solar panels and providing their customers with a pallet recycling scheme.
