Norcros Adhesives offers a wide range of training solutions, developed to meet customer needs. The company has the benefit of a fully-equipped Skills Centre at its Tunstall, Stoke, factory. This comprises a lecture room and a practical area, which can accommodate up to 12 trainees.

The company’s bespoke training capability is particularly in demand. This includes courses or short sessions of varying lengths which Norcros Adhesives is able perform either in the Skills Centre, at the customer’s premises or on-site. All the sales team are able to deliver product training, and Mandy Searle, technical services manager, delivers many of the theory aspects of the training courses herself, with support from the technical staff.  Mandy has a TQUK Level 3 Award in Education & Training (QCF).

The company’s standard one-day courses cater for the needs of trainees from all backgrounds – from beginner to advanced. The emphasis is firmly on the practical aspects, with all trainees encouraged to improve their own practical knowledge and tiling techniques. The courses include:

• An introduction to wall and floor tiling;
• Norcros Adhesives product training;
• Tiling to heated floors;
• Tiling to wet rooms;
• Fixing natural stone;
• TTA Trailblazer Wall & Floor Tiling Apprenticeship.

All of these include both theory and practical training.

Meanwhile for specifiers Norcros offers CPD training. The company currently has three different RIBA-approved CPD presentations. These are:

• Reinforced Polymer Technology for Tiling;
• Avoiding Common Failures when Specifying Wall and Floor Tiling;
• Tiling to Anhydrite Screeds.

These CPD presentations can be delivered on-site to architects and specifiers or at the Skills Centre. The video presentations of the CPDs are available to view online. The company also regularly takes part in RIBA CPD Providers Network Roadshows.

Meanwhile for fixers and the DIY market, in addition to the opportunity to attend one of the standard training courses, there is a wide range of ‘How to’ videos on the Norcros Adhesives website.
