ULTRATILE AND THE GREAT NORTHERN TILING COMPANY ACHIEVE CAR SHOWROOM EXCELLENCE
A brand-new, purpose-built Tesla showroom has opened its doors to the public displaying an impressive porcelain tiled floor fixed with UltraTile ProFlex SP.
The Background
Tesla are expanding their network of high-end car showrooms with their Sheffield-based centre.
The Challenge
The 300sqm project demanded a stylish, yet durable, aesthetic that would match the luxury and futuristic reputation of Tesla cars.
The tiles, adhesive and grout needed to withstand the weight of the high-end cars and the constant trafficking of staff and visitors to the showroom.
The Solution
The project was secured by The Great Northern Tiling Company and was completed in just 5 days. To fix the 600x300mm porcelain tiles, the tiling team chose to use UltraTile ProFlex SP in grey – an adhesive that provides a cost-effective, rapid fix every time.
Ideal for use with a wide variety of popular tile choices, ProFlex SP rapid set flexible tile adhesive can be applied to depths of 3-20mm, is classified as S1 in accordance with EN 12004 and has a high level of deformation for greater tolerance to movement.
With a pot life of 60 minutes and a set time of just 2.5 hours, it is unsurprising that ProFlex SP is a popular choice for tilers up and down the country.
Selecting the correct adhesive to install the porcelain tiles was paramount to success but the finishing was also crucial. When making such an integral design decision, it is vital that the aesthetics aren’t compromised with poor grouting. With that in mind, The Great Northern Tiling Team used ProGrout Flexible in Grey to complete all the jointing.
Available in 14 gorgeous tones to suit all designs and tastes, ProGrout Flexible is suitable for use with all tile types and can be washed down easily with minimal effort. Designed for areas where movement and vibration is likely, ProGrout Flexible is suitable for joint widths up to 20mm, is mould resistant, and will set in just 12 hours.
Furthermore, ProGrout Flexible has been developed using ColourShield Technology – a process which involves the addition of a specialist additive for lasting colour protection.
In addition, The Great Northern Tiling Company also utilised ProSuper Grip ready mixed adhesive to tile the staff showers and splashbacks.
Results
Thanks to the fantastic performance of UltraTile and the talented team at The Great Northern Tiling Company, Tesla opened the doors to its Sheffield showroom, on time, in early 2023.
