SKILLBUILD WINNERS ANNOUNCED
It was a clean sweep for Southern Regional College, Northern Ireland, in the Wall and Floor Tiling category at the SkillBuild 2019 UK National Final.
The event was held at WorldSkills UK LIVE – the UK’s largest skills, apprenticeships and careers event – on 21 – 23 November at NEC Birmingham.
Dylan Calvert took Gold, and is pictured receiving his certificate from Bob Howard MBE, TTA Director and Chairman of the Training Committee. Dylan Gillanders won Silver and Aaron Gillespie won Bronze – all three medal winners are from Southern Regional College.
The other colleges competing in the Wall and Floor Tiling Category at SkillBuild were Leeds College of Building, Cardiff & Vale College and City of Glasgow College. The standard of tiling continues to improve each year, and this year was definitely no exception, with the final results being very close. Many congratulations to all who took part.
Paul Doran, lecturer at SRC, says: “We knew we had strong competitors going into the competition, as they all engaged in intensive training at Southern Regional College, but we are ecstatic with the results. I would like to thank our sponsors for supporting all of the next generation tile fixers.”
